…of a new blog.
I’m an Engish student who has decided to create a new blog about book reviews. The main reason is because I want to improve my writing in English and, as everybody knows, the best way to do something well is by practicing it. Considering that I love reading, I know I will always have something to write about in that way. I also know that keeping a blog about books makes you read and write more, so these are my aims.
I’m not a beginner in blogging: I have been writing in a blog for about four years. It’s also a blog about books but it’s in Spanish, I’m afraid ;). Anyway, if anyone wants to take a look, here it is:
In this new blog I’m going to upload reviews about books I think are interesting; I have read the most of them in Spanish, but I’m trying to review only novels which are available in English speaking countries, in case anybody from these countries read my blog. I’m also starting to read English books, but it’s quite difficult to choose the right ones in order to unterstand them.
I remind you I’m a student, and even though some of the reviews will be corrected by my teacher, he is human and he can’t check everything I write, so there will be others without any correction. You will find mistakes, for sure, and I would be very grateful if you take a minute to comment or email me and tell me about them. I am here to learn. Of course, if anybody needs some help with Spanish language, I’m also here to help.
That’s all, now let’s start.

Congratulations on your new blog, Isi! I’m Dutch and I have two blogs too, one in English and one in Dutch. I don’t translate my reviews from one blog to the other (because many Dutch people can read English anyway), but I read so much, that I have enough to fill two blogs. 🙂
I don’t see a way to follow by email (and I don’t like the WP follow, I never check it) so I’ll be following by RSS and leave a comment every now and then. Good luck with your blog!

Thank you very much, Lesswammes!
I’m sure it’s esaier for you to write in English because in Holland everybody is bilingual. For me is quite difficult; I have to think a lot about what I exactly want to mean, but I want to try.
By the way, I’ve been in Holland for holidays a few years ago and I loved it!!
I’ll check about some way to follow the blog (I’m still a beginner in wordpress).
See you!

Isi, we’re not exactly bilingual, but we do learn a lot of English at school. And (English-spoken) tv programmes have Dutch subtitles so you can hear the English and/or read the Dutch. It helps.
You can use a widget for email subscribers I think (Follow Blog).
I was in Spain this summer. We were in (please don’t hold it against me) Benidorm. Not the town itself, but the surrounding area. It was a nice holiday. We’ve driven from the Netherlands to Spain a few times now. It’s a beautiful drive through France

Benidorm is a typical place por European people, yes 😀 . What a long journey to do it by car!
About the English: it’s only a few years since we can watch TV programmes in foreign languages, but most of the times the subtitles are not the ones of the movie you are watching: a mess. We say: Spain is different; in the bad way, you know.
I use to download series with subtitles, or take some DVDs from the public library: it’s the only thing we can do to practice a little.

I’ve found amazing this new blog. It’s written by a Spanish blogter, in english language, and the first commentary is made by a Dutch blogger. I’m Spanish too, studied in my country in a Dutch school and despite my bad english, i love it. A lot of coincidences. I guess it grows (the blog)… quickly. Good Luck.
About the book that is object of your commentary It seems an interesting initial idea, althought i’m afraid it is so far about reality. Recently i’ve read in a science book that if the earth had got any variation in the angle of inclination or the rotation were different (more slow o quick), however minimal, it would be absolutely different from the one we know. And of course… we wouln’t stay here writing this words.
Best regards.

Thank you! I’m trying to do my best.
About the book, well, it’s not exactly about physical phenomena, but about human’s adaptation. It’s only interesting, but not a great reading.
Thanks for your comment 😀

It’s a great start!!!! 🙂 We all have to start somewhere! I just started my blog in July, so you’ve been doing this a lot longer than I have!

Rebecca,
Thank you very much for your comment! Yes, some post has to be the first, and here I am. I’m not going to review a lot of books, perhaps 3 or 4 per month, but that’s a beggining: My ambition is to make my writing more fluent.
My blog in Spanish is very old, I know; I love to keep it: it’s very enjoyable and I’ve met a lot of readers and authors.

I’m very happy with my new adventure.

If you are trying to find books in English you might want to try The Book Depository they do free shipping world wide (pretty much, I’m sure Spain is one of the countries they ship to for free).
I think a blog is a fantastic way to practice your English, and the community is very friendly, I am sure everyone will help you out if you need it.

Thanks, Lucy!
I know bookdepository, but at the moment I prefer ebooks for English readings: they are cheaper, some of them free in Amazon, and I have the dictionary to check words in a second!
I see you are very friendly: some people have commented in the blog and it’s not a week since I created it!
Thank you very much!

Congratulations on your new blog, I look forward to following you and seeing what you are reading. It’s a great idea for you to write a blog in English, you are right there is no better way to practice the language.
I live in Canada and my children go to school in French even though we speak English at home (my husband doesn’t speak French.) So I’m working on my French and I am hoping I will be able to write reviews in French one day!

Thank you for your comment, Shan!
I’m sure you will write reviews in French soon too! 😀

jeje Loque, muchas gracias!
Qué desgracia eso de ser eternos estudiantes de inglés, ¿verdad? Bueno, yo voy a intentar avanzar un poquito, a ver si se puede ser español y, además, saber inglés 😉
