This is my first classics spin, how exciting!
In case anybody doesn’t know what it is about, I will summarize the rules: you have to choose 20 titles from your classics list (here is mine) and make a list with them. Next Monday a number will be chosen randomly and you have to read and review that especific book before July 1st (there will be a check point by this date).
This is really easy for me because I only have read one book of my list, so here we go:
- Agatha Christie: The murder of Roger Ackroyd
- Charlotte Brontë: Jane Eyre
- Dominique Lapierre: City of joy
- Edith Wharton: The house of mirth
- Emilia Pardo Bazán: Cuentos de amor
- Gabriel García Márquez: One hundred years of solitude
- George Orwell: Burmese days *
- Isak Dinesen: Out of Africa
- Kurt Vonnegut: Slaughterhouse 5 *
- Lajos Zilahy: Century in scarlet
- Robert Louis Stevenson: Doctor Jeckyll and Mr Hide
- Oscar Wilde: The picture of Dorian Gray
- Umberto Eco: The name of the rose
- Virginia Woolf: To the lighthouse
- Edith Wharton: Xingu
- Isaac Asimov: A short history of chemistry
- Margaret Mitchell: Gone with the wind
- Pearl S. Buck: East wind, west wind
- Stefan Zweig: Three Masters: Balzac, Dickens, Dostoeffsky
- Stefan Zweig: World of yesterday
* I have an English copy of these books. The rest are in Spanish.
Which one will be chosen? I can’t wait to know it!

Jane Eyre is on my list too. Good luck 🙂

Good luck for you too!

Some very good books there. I’m biased to hope Jane Eyre would be chosen, but the others on your list that I know are surely equally as good. Here’s hoping you get a good book 🙂
Isi said:
All of them are books I’m looking forward to reading, so I must confess I really don’t care about the number very much 😉 So we will see what happens!

That is a wonderfully diverse list. If I had to chose for you the number would be 2, 5 or 12, as those are books I love, but I hope you fall in love with whichever book spins your way.
Isi said:
I have to say I want to read all of them, so I really don’t care about the number, I just want to know it NOW 😀
Good luck to you too!!

Good luck, Isi! I love Jane Eyre and Gone with the Wind so I hope you get one of those, but there are lots of other great books on your list too!
Isi said:
I see Jane Eyre is the favourite of so many people, and I still haven’t read it! Number 2 now, please, classics club!
Brona said:
Welcome to the club. The first spin was a lovely way to get to know more fellow clubbers better. I hope this one proves as friendly 🙂
Isi said:
Yes, Brona; I’ve seen a lot of new blogs thanks to the spin 😉

Jane Eyre, Dorian Gray, Gone With the Wind – yes, yes, yes! Lots on your list that I haven’t read yet, too – would be interested to read your thoughts on those. Good luck with the spin – hope you get the # you’re really hoping for (we all have one!). 😉
Isi said:
Hummm I have to say I want to read all of them, but Jane Eyre is a must-must read first than anything else 😉

I’ve been wanting to read the one selected for you! Hope you enjoy it and look forward to hearing your thoughts. My selection was Robinson Crusoe, have you read it?
