What a pleasure, to look back at everything you have read during the last year! Here is my summary, regarding literature, of this year.
Numbers:
In 2015 I have read a total of 65 books. Alright, I’m reading the 65th right now, but I’m confident I’ll finish it by Thursday.
I read 16 books in English and 33 in Spanish.
29 books were written by women and 36 by men.
I read 24 non-fiction books.
I read 11 ebooks on my kindle.
I listened to 16 audiobooks, all of them in English.
Best books of the year:
It’s easy to know them if you read my blog, because I don’t review all the books I read; only the ones I like the most. So, in no particular order, the best are:
◊ As you wish, by Cary Elwes: well, this one is in order
◊ The unicorn road, by Martin Davies.
◊ September, by Rosamunde Pilcher.
◊ A short history of nearly everything, by Bill Bryson.
◊ Sparrow: the story of a songbird, by Giovanni Verga.
◊ The martian, by Andy Weir.
◊ The bookseller, by Cynthia Swanson.
Worst books of the year:
Fortunately for you, most of them are only in Spanish, but there were a couple of them in English you should know about:
◊ With every letter, by Sarah Sundin: I didn’t even review it here. The characters were dull and they were praying almost all of the time, so this was not my book.
◊ Go set a watchman, by Harper Lee: yes, I do think To kill a mockingbird and Go set a watchman can’t coexist. They are two different stories with the same characters, and that’s why it was not published in the 60s: because it’s not a second part.
Challenges:
Oh my! This is embarrassing, but I didn’t finished any challenge. Only the Non-fiction reading challenge can be considered accomplished, but I didn’t review ten books, so I can’t say I did it.
I didn’t even finished my own challenge about reading 20 books in English, you know 😥
**********
Well, it’s not that bad for this busy girl.
I don’t think I can read a larger amount of books in 2016, but I hope every one of them deserves to be reviewed, because that would mean I had a good time reading them.
May your reads for this new year be enjoyable!

Great wrap-up! I didn’t finish any challenges either. But you still read so much! And so balanced between English and Spanish, male and female authors, fiction and non-fiction. I remember especially your review of September, since Rosamunde Pilcher is a favorite of mine. I’m reading her Coming Home now and then I’ll read September. I don’t think I will start any new challenges this year except for Travel the World in Books, which is ongoing, since my reading has been rather spotty this year. Thanks for sharing the best and the worst from your year in books!

Thank you, Lucy.
Yes, I think my reads are well balanced, in general. I’m a big fan of audiobooks and I use them in order not to forget my English, and to try non-fiction, which is a favourite of mine when it comes to listen to.
Ohh so glad to hear you are reading Coming Home. I have great memories of that book, and I still look for a copy from time to time in second-hand book shops because I read a copy from the library and I would like to have my own.
Regarding challenges, I’ll try “my” challenge about reading in English, of course, and two more: Travel the world in books (of course too), and Read my own damn books (by Andi), which is funny because we all have books unread at home and still go to the library and to the book shop – no way, that has to stop!
Thanks for passing by. Kisses!

What a great year in books you had! I had the flu last week so I added four books to my reading total (and normally I average one every two weeks). I did not do well with the reading challenges I dont host, especially the TBR Challenge and I actually don’t review a lot of my favorite books bit really should!! Happy reading in the New Year!

Well, I’m glad to hear that the flu had an unexpected benefit after all 😉
I’m addicted to challenges, but that doesn’t mean I finish them: it only means I’m happy participating in all of them, haha.
Regarding the reviews, I like to put an effort on the books I liked more, because I don’t have time to review everything, so… I would like people to know about the ones I think they are enjoyable.
Happy reading to you too!

Nice overview! You did well. I bet the audio books are great for your English. You’re getting better and better at it. All the best for the New Year!
Isi said:
Yes, Judith, the audiobooks keep me practicing with my listening skills (which are almost non-existent!).
Hope you have a Happy New Year! Kisses!

It looks like you read a great spectrum of books! I need to think about my least favorites of the year since I generally ditch books if they aren’t doing much for me.
Isi said:
You are hard as a rock, Andi: I feel guilty if I leave a book unfinished, so I try to read every book I start. I shouldn’t waste my time, I know, but…
Hope you have a Happy New Year!

Not a bad year! I still haven’t read Go Set A Watchman yet (I know, I know) and am glad you liked the Bill Bryson book because it’s on my TBR list.
Isi said:
You’ll love the Bill Bryson, I’m sure!
Regarding Harper Lee, I would recommend just to read or re-read TKAM. Seriously, you’ll be happier 😉
Happy New Year and lots of kisses!!

Impressive! I loved the Bill Bryson book too. The interesting thing about Go Set A Watchman is that it was written before TKAM. The publishers read GSaW and told Lee they’d rather see a story more about the characters’ childhood…and bam, she wrote TKAM. So she pulled the TKAM characters right from GSaW. But I do agree the stories don’t seem equal. Although I liked GSaW after thinking about it, it isn’t as great a story. It’s not so rich in detail and characterization. TKAM is definitely superior.
Isi said:
Yes, I understand they are two versions (very different, indeed) of the same idea.
I’m very happy that TKAM was the one that will be remembered, because it’s ❤
Hope you have a very Happy New Year, Jennine!

Looks like you had a great year in books, Isi! Happy to hear you enjoyed Swanson’s The Bookseller; I have that book sitting on my TBR queue at the moment 🙂 Wishing you all the best in 2016 and more awesome books to read!
Isi said:
Thanks, Lianne! Yes, I love to look back and remember all the good books that I’ve enjoyed through the year 🙂
Hope you like The bookseller; it’s a lovely story about making decisions.
I wish you a Happy New Year. Kisses!!

Happy new year and great numbers, Isi! I’m a bit envious of your non-fiction count.
