It’s time to show you my new books!

There has been a book fair here in my hometown a couple of weeks ago, so I had the perfect excuse to buy here and there and, besides, I have received a few books from publishers and from a giveaway I won.

Here you go:

new books 1The outcast and The river of no return were the books I purchased in the Book Fair.

Back in April I participated in Dewey’s 24 hours readathon and, as always, since I’m kind of an addict to the mini-challenges, I participated in many of them and I won the one hosted by Darren. The prize was Β£15 to spend in The Book Depository, and I choose Everything I never told you, Leaving time and Sharp objects. I still can’t believe how cheap books are in that web!

And finally, I received Second life (which I have already finished) and The wolf border from Harper. I’ll review them soon, because they are for sale this month.

new books 3

I also have a couple of new ebooks:

Her sister’s shoes (Ashley Farley): I’m participaing in a book tour of this book, I think it’s my kind of read.

Duet for three hands (Tess Thompson): I was browsing on Amazon Spain but this book wasn’t available in my country so I contacted the author and she kindly sent me a copy! You know she is one of my favourite romance authors, and I really wanted to read this one – I have already started it!

new books 2So that was it!

You see I have plenty of books to enjoy after I finish my exams next week πŸ˜€

Time to show you my new babies! πŸ˜€

imm1The bookseller, by Cynthia Swanson: this is my current read, and I’m absoultely hooked.

As you wish, by Cary Elwes: I needed this book so badly that I purchased it in a local bookshop. I did it on Christmas, and they finally received in mid-February.

ebooks

At the water’s edge, by Sara Gruen: I got this one from Netgalley – I’m looking forward to reading more by the author after Water for elephants.

Getting the picture, by Sarah Salway: the publishers sent me an email a couple of weeks ago, and I saw this book talking about letters and family secrets, so I couldn’t resist – this is my cup of tea when it comes to novels!

Pleasant day, by Vera Jane Cook: I have read several novels by this author and I loved them, so when I saw this one was on tour, I applied!

What are you hungry for? by Deepak Chopra: I’m reading it at the moment and I love the author’s approach about food and how we eat.

Diana Gabaldon, Jodi Picoult, Jojo Moyes, Nicholas Sparks, Sohpie Hannah

Book fairThere has been a book fair of second-hand books in my hometown this last fortnight, and there is always a stall with a tiny pile of books in English I like to check every year, so there I went, and I almost need a taxi to come back home with all those books πŸ˜‰

It’s not my fault – they were so cheap I couldn’t help myself!

imm1Night Music (Jojo Moyes): My boyfriend bought me this one. You know how much I loved Me before you, and I want to read more by this author.

Change of heart and Handle with care (Jodi Picoult): another author I would like to read more by.

The lucky one (Nicholas Sparks): I know I will end up crying with Sparks’ stories, but even so, I love them.

The other half lives (Sophie Hannah): I didn’t know this one, but I had to choose four books if I wanted to get a discount, so I thought this one might be a good mystery.

Written in my own heart’s blood (Diana Gabaldon): Here you can see my crown jewel πŸ˜€ I didn’t buy this one at the book fair; I ordered it in my local library because I have just finished the 7th book in the series and I don’t want to wait until the 8th is translated into Spanish, so I bought it on a whim!

And now, it’s time to read my brand new books.

David-MIchael Harding, Dianne Setterfield, Erin Lindsay McCabe, Jessica Brockmole, Reyna Grande, Stephen Hawking, Vera Jane Cook, William Goldman

Today I want to show you some of the new books that I have on my list now.

I’ve been looking around Netgalley more than I should, as you see, but the the good news is that I have discovered that there are books in Spanish, and well, you can imagine the rest.

Let’s take a look.

A book I purchased

the princess brideThe princess bride (William Goldman): This is my favourite book in the world and I already have it in Spanish, but I think that if you have a super favourite novel, you are allowed to buy it in all the editions and languages you want, what do you think? πŸ˜‰

If you want lots of laughs, just read this book. It is terrific.

This is the British edition of the book; I saw it in the shopwindow of a tiny book shop near the cathedral, and I couldn’t resist the temptation.

Ebooks from Netgalley

new books 2Bellman and Black (Dianne Setterfield): I was pre approved for this book and I couldn’t say no. I’ve read different opinions about it, but I think that the negative ones are negative because they have compared this novel with the author’s previous one, The thirteenth tale, and I haven’t read it, so I think I can like Bellman and Black.

My brief history (Stephen Hawking): Several popular science books by Hawking are on my list, so when I saw this one on Netgalley I applied in order to know him better. I thought it would be an interesting reading.

I shall be near to you (Erin Lindsay McCabe): I love stories set during war time, and this one is about women who went to the front dressed as men to be near their husbands. I already know I will love this book.

The distance between us (Reyna Grande): this one is in Spanish, but it is also in English, and that’s why I show it on this blog. I don’t read a lot of Latin American authors, and I would like to change that.

Books from the authors/publishers

new books 3Letters from Skye (Jessica Brockmole): A love story set in WWI and told through letters? It had to be mine! I have this one in Spanish, since it has been recently published here.

Where the wildflowers grow (Vera Jane Cook): I got it for a book tour. I have discover southern fiction thanks to this author (The story of Sassy Sweetwater) and I liked it, so I also wanted to read this one.

The cats of Savone (David-Michael Harding): This is a compillation of short stories, and the funny thing is that, after reading the book, you can vote for your favourite story for the author to develop a full novel from it. I have read How angels die also by Harding and I loved it, so that’s why I accepted this one without any hesitation!

Danna Pycher, Gabriele Wills, Jodi Picoult, Lisa D. Ellis, Paullina Simons, Winifred Watson

This time I want to show you some of the new books I have got in Spanish but that are also available in English, so they will be reviewed sooner or later here:

imm aHouse rules (Jodi Picoult): I have already read it and I loved it. It is so different from what I thought it was about, but so thrilling.

The bronze horseman (Paullina Simons): I have read several positive reviews about this book and I think I will love the story.

imm4Miss Pettigrew lives for a day (Winifred Watson): I neither knew this book nor the author, and then why do I have this novel? Because Leander sent it to me this week! She says this is what I call a “medicine book” – a book that makes you feel better – and that is exactly what I need at the moment. Thanks, Leander!!

imm bAnd I also have promising novels to read on my kindle:

Elusive Dawn (Gabriele Wills): this is the second book of the Muskoka trilogy, and I’m looking forward to reading it since I loved The summer before the storm (my review).

Finding Lily (Lisa D. Ellis): I got this book for review in a book tour (Virtual author book tours). I chose it because I thought I would like the plot, so I will tell you about the book at the end of May.

3rd generation and beyond (Danna Pycher): when Rebecca asked me to participate in the first book tour she is organizing, I said yes! Because this is her first book tour and also becuase she talked very good about this book, so I’m sure I will like it. My review will be out in May too.

Gabrielle Wills, Paul Pilkington, Tess Thompson

I love reading IMMs on the blogs, taking a look at the books they are planning to read and seeing my list becoming eternal, so I have decided to do the same in my blog πŸ˜‰ .

I’m starting little by little, so today I will show you three ebooks I have in my kindle since a few weeks ago:

imm1

The one you love (Paul Pilkington): this novel has very good reviews and also very bad ones, but I wanted to give it a try since the synopsis caught my attention. The book was for a few days for free in amazon, also here in Spain. And today I have seen it is for free again, so you have no excuses!

The summer before the storm (Gabrielle Wills): this is also a book I saw in amazon and I thought it could be interesting: I love Canadian stories! I contacted with the author in order to ask her if she would be interested in providing a few copies to organize a joint reading in my Spanish blog, and she agreed! She is very kind and I’m looking forward to knowing what happened that summer when WWI begun. I will tell you soon.

Riversong (Tess Thompson): this is the book I’m currently reading. It was for free in amazon some weeks ago, and I saw it had a very high score, so I also wanted to give it a chance. The beginning is being shocking because the main character seems to be in trouble, but I can’t say anything else; just that I have applied for a blog tour and the next post will be referred to Tess Thompson πŸ˜‰ .

As you see, amazon is a great source of readings if you want to learn a language; you have to spend some time searching for stories that might suit you, but it is cheap (or free!) and fast once you have decided, and the kindle dictionary helps you a lot when you are reading!
